We wish you a wonderful time and look forward to the next decade.
Opening ceremony indoor swimming pool:
Following the official proceedings and the ensuing celebrations, some of the guests got rather “merry” and decided to throw certain individuals – fully clothed – into the new indoor pool. One of them was the chief master builder Karl Grabher in his new suit. He then got into his car, drove stone-cold sober for a hour until he reached Hohenems, where he changed into a fresh suit and then drove straight back to Stuben to rejoin the party. Where he nearly got thrown into the pool again, if it hadn’t been for the last-minute intervention of his boss, Edeltraud Grabher.
The legendary Hubertushof bar:
In the late 70ies and early 80ies, the “Bruno Pinter Trio” would perform at the new Hubertushof bar in the hotel basement every weekend. Every performance was an enormous party and people from the entire village would attend. Some even had to queue outside the door to get in. There was a long line of people waiting outside the entrance to the bar. The Trio even composed the song “Ma, Ma, Mamala” especially for the Hubertushof.
Opening ceremony 1968:
During the small hours of the party, bets were placed on whether Willi Mathies Senior would be brave enough to jump from the third floor into the snow outside. Willi didn’t need to be told twice and leaped down into the depths from the third floor. Having reached the bottom, he nearly suffocated under the 4 to 5 meters of newly fallen snow and managed to extricate himself from the thick layer of snow only with great difficulty. But he did win his bet: 1 bottle of wine—after all, there was nothing else left to drink!
Construction Studies Week:
During peak times, some of the participants needed a total of only 6 hours sleep during the entire Construction Studies Week from Sunday to Saturday. In keeping with the motto: “Combining business with pleasure”.
